TMJ DIANGOSTIC PROTOCOL

Our TMJ Specialist accumulates, analyzes and assimilates all of the information obtained from the patient's history, clinical examination and advanced diagnostics such as Jaw Tracking and 3D CT Technology. In our office, TMJ treatment typically involves the temporary creation of a new therapeutic occlusal (bite) position. This neuromuscular occlusion position incorporates healthy muscle function and proper interdigitation of the teeth to create a healthy, comfortable bite.

JAW TRACKING

Jaw tracking technology records the delicate functioning movements of the jaw with accuracy in tenths of a millimeter. We use various diagnostic devices to measure occlusal contact force and occlusal contact sequence to establish objective data in the diagnostic process of analyzing a patient's bite to show what is and what is not functioning properly. Opening, closing, swallowing and chewing movements can be scrutinized and analyzed. The natural occlusion and the healthy neuromuscular occlusion treatment positions can be located with this computerized instrument. Our TMJ-trained dentist uses Jaw Tracking technology in the diagnostic process, at the initiation of treatment and thereafter to evaluate the accuracy of jaw position at the treatment occlusion.

3D CT IMAGING SERIES

3D CT imaging technology enables our TMJ-trained dentists to visualize and assess critical TMJ anatomies, such as the condyle, articular fossa and joint spaces. Our diagnostic protocol includes a comprehensive TMJ report that is provided by a board-certified oral maxillofacial radiologist.  » Read more...
